Book of Remembrance

A new book of Remembrance, in memory of Edna Hole, who was a long time, much loved and loyal member of our congregation, has been kindly donated by members of her family and was blessed and placed beneath the picture of St. Aidan on Easter Sunday. This is used to remember loved ones no longer with us and is a focus for prayer.

Songs of Praise in the Precinct

 “Singing in the rain”

On Friday June 10th at 7pm Members from the congregations of St Aidan’s with St George, Summerhill Methodist & Wesley Memorial Methodist Churches joined with friends and residents from the local community to defy the weather to sing the Top Ten hymns as voted by local residents. These were based on the BBC Top 30 and were a good mix of traditional and new. Given the weather, it poured continually, as can be seen from the pictures, the event was well supported and requests were made to repeat the event next year and add one in this year for Harvest, sometime in the Autumn, a suggestion we will gladly take up.

Despite the 'Inclement Weather' we still managed to raise £125 for the South West Childrens Hospice at Wraxall, Nr. Bristol, Thank you.

The “Top Ten” Hymns for St. George are

10 . The Lord’s My Shepherd

9.    Be Still In The Presence Of The Lord

8    Dear Lord  &  Father Of Mankind

7    I, The  Lord Of Sea & Sky

6   Shine, Jesus, Shine

5    Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

4   Praise My Soul The King Of Heaven

3   Great Is Thy Faithfulness

2   Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace

And coming in at No 1

How Great Thou Art!

The Churches would like to thank those who worked hard to make this event happen, the precinct shops for supporting the event, every one who voted & all who braved the weather to turn up & sing. They look forward to seeing you at a Harvest Praise in the Precinct event in the autumn and at Christmas for “Carols in the precinct”. Watch this web site for details.

Community Fair Raises £700 for Charity

Thank you to everyone who was involved with March's's Community Fair. Lots of residents found out more about what is happening in their local area, and a number of contacts were made between different community groups.

We are pleased to announce that £700 was raised for Children's Hospice South West. What a fantastic side effect of our apparently very popular and seemingly appreciated Community event!

Please see the Gallery section for photos from the event.
