Community Fair 2017

‘The Lord Mayor, Councillor Jeff Lovell and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Bridget Lovell formally opened the eighth St George Community Fair on Saturday, held at St Aidan’s Church and Church Hall, Fir Tree Lane, St George. More local residents took the opportunity to see what is going on in their local area than in previous years, and Kerry McCarthy, MP for East Bristol, was able to call in after her regular Surgery. The 29 local Voluntary Groups and Agencies taking part had a really busy time, with many having the chance to informally meet other Groups or Agencies operating in a similar field of interest. The Groups ranged from St Pauls Advice Centre now covering St George, Bristol Mental Health, and the 74th St Aidan’s Brownies celebrating their 70th Birthday, through to ‘Street Goat’ from Troopers Hill Allotments, together with some memory jogging photographs of ‘Crews Hole’ and other local scenes presented by the St George History Group. The Fair helped to focus on the work of the Bourne Family Project based in Two Mile Hill Road, and was also generously supported by a number of local Traders.’
Below is a Photograph of the Lady Mayoress receiving a Basket of Flowers from Isla of the 74th St Aidan’s Brownies, watched by the Lord Mayor.
