St. Aidan's Welcomes the Olympic Flame

On Tuesday 22nd May, the Olympic Flame passed St. Aidan's church, watched by hundreds of people. The pavements outside the church were three deep. All along the route thousands watched the progress of the flame.

Prior to the Flame passing, St. Aidan's hosted a cream tea with the proceeds going to the Childrens Hospice South West.

£170 was raised, and with the proceeds of the Spring fayre raffle of £180, plus the generous donations amounting to more than £600 made at our Community Fayre in March a total of £950 has been sent to the hospice for their work.

Well done and thank you to all who came and all who helped at all the events.

The Grand Draw which accompanied the Spring Fayre generated £166.90 for the South West Children's Hospice. A huge thank you to all who worked hard to make it possible, well done.

Community Fair

What a turn out at this years event!

34 exhibitors from local volunteer organisations contributed to a really enjoyable day. The fair was officialy opened by Councillor Geoff Gollop, The Lord mayor of Bristol.

Concert in memory of John Dalton

At a packed St. Aidan's church on Friday evening, March 16th, the Crofts End Brass Band with guests, gave a rousing concert in memory of John Dalton, a past member, who died last year.

The audience, including members of John's family and many friends and admirers were treated to a fine selection of Brass Band classics.

The retiring collection in aid of John's favourite charity, The Bristol Children Hospital, raised £379.

Pentecost Praise in the Kingsway Precinct, Friday 25th May, 7pm

Air Balloon Hill Primary School Choir

Our local school, Air Balloon Hill, with whom we have a great relationship brought their choir to sing in the church on Thursday 8th December.

This gave parents and many others an ideal opportunity to see and hear the children in a more intimate setting than the Colston Hall.

The church was packed to hear a variety of Christmas songs and Carols, both old favourites and new ones.

A big well done to the Choir and the teachers for a fantastic night.

Air Balloon Hill Primary School Choir

On Thursday 8th December the Air Balloon Hill Primary School Choir will sing in the church at 6.30pm. St. Aidan with St. George have a really good relationship with the school and support it in as many ways as we can. This event will allow the children and their parents and supporters to hear the choir sing in a wonderful 'acoustic', in a a local venue.
