Harold was born in St George in 1869, his parents were William & Elizabeth Ashford.  A 4 year old in 1901 he was living with his family at Hazel Dale, Glebe Road his; father was a Teacher.  At the time of the 1911 census Harold was at school & the family home recorded as 27 Glebe Road.

The 169th Company of the machine gun corps formed part of 56th 1st London Division and were involved in the battles of Arras, Third Ypres & Cambrai Operations in 1917.

Thomas died on 2nd December 1917.

Thomas is buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery. Grave Ref: VIII. 1. 126

Harold was entitled to The British War Medal and Victory Medal it is not known if these were claimed by his next of kin.
