Ecumenical
We have good ecumenical links with our neighbouring churches.
We hold joint services at various times throughout the year, for example, Women’s World day of Prayer, Week of Christian Unity, Easter and Pentecost.
Our major shared service is the out door morning service held on Troopers Hill in St. George. This service commences with a Silent Procession (optional) starting from Summerhill Methodist Church at 11.30am. The procession makes its’ way to troopers Hill, where the service starts at 12noon. This particular service has been in existence for a great number of years and is well attended, whatever the weather!
A more recent joint event has been ‘Carols in the Precinct’ which takes place generally on the Monday before Christmas at 7pm in the Kingsway Shopping Precinct and this presents an opportunity for families to do some good old fashioned Carol Singing in the open air. This event is well supported by the local shops.
